Biography

Inspired by afro funk artists such as Fela Kuti, the Afro Influenced Funk Federation – better known as AIFF – was formed by two Dutch musicians: drummer, DJ, and producer Phil Martin and bassist/guitarist Ton van der Kilk. The duo’s intention for AIFF was to take afro funk in a new direction. Combining deep funk, soul, jazz, reggae, and afro music, AIFF brought the ‘70s grooves that inspired them into the new millennium. Their debut album, Afro Soul System, was released in 2007. They went on to remix some of the album’s tracks as well as remixing singles for artists such as Laura Vane & The Vipertones.
