João Rubinato, known professionally as Adoniran Barbosa, was born on August 6, 1910, in Valinhos, São Paulo, Brazil. He began his career as a singer and composer after moving to São Paulo in 1933, performing at Cruzeiro do Sul radio station. After several tries, he earned a contract for a weekly show after performing "Filosofia" by Noel Rosa, and adopted a more Brazilian-sounding stage name. In 1941, he joined Rádio Record, creating popular characters like Pernafina and Zé Cunversa. Notable songs include "Saudosa Maloca" (1951) and "Joga a Chave" (1952). He acted in films such as Pif-Paf (1945). Adoniran Barbosa passed away on November 23, 1982. Posthumously, he was honored with a Google Doodle on what would have been his 105th birthday and portrayed by Paulo Miklos in the 2023 film Saudosa Maloca.
