Biography
Adam Plachetka is a Czech bass-baritone born on May 4, 1985, in Prague. He established a musical foundation at the Prague Conservatory and won several national singing competitions. In 2005, Plachetka made his debut at the National Theatre in Prague, where his repertoire included Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, and Rinaldo. He also performed as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia for the Prague State Opera. Plachetkaâs professional career featured a 2007 debut at the Salzburg Festival as Pompeo in Benvenuto Cellini. Subsequent appearances included the roles of Hajný in Rusalka and Masetto in Don Giovanni. In 2009, he performed as Sylvano in La Calisto at the Bavarian State Opera. Plachetka became a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble in September 2010, debuting as Schaunard in La bohème.
