Biography
Abby Roach, known by her stage name Abby the Spoon Lady, was born on October 29, 1981, in Wichita, Kansas. She is a percussionist who began street performing and busking to fund her travels across the United States, primarily hopping freight trains. Roach taught herself to play the spoons and traveled extensively by hitchhiking and railroad, eventually settling in Asheville, North Carolina. In 2017, Roach released a collaborative album with Chris Rodrigues titled Working on Wall Street. She has been an advocate for street performance and free speech, co-founding the Asheville Buskers Collective in 2014 to support street performers.
