Biography
Samuel Ervin Beam, born 26 July 1974 in Chapin, South Carolina, is an American singerâsongwriter, guitarist, pianist, and banjo player known under the stage name Iron & Wine. Iron & Wine released the debut studio album The Creek Drank the Cradle in 2002, followed by Our Endless Numbered Days in 2004 and The Shepherd's Dog in 2007, which received positive reviews. In 2011, Kiss Each Other Clean was issued on Warner Bros. and 4AD, and Ghost on Ghost followed in 2013 on Nonesuch. Iron & Wine expanded his output with the Archive Series volumes (2015â2024) and collaborations such as Sing Into My Mouth with Ben Bridwell in 2015 and Beast Epic in 2017. His seventh studio album, Light Verse, was released in 2024. Iron & Wineâs work has earned multiple RIAA certifications and his songs have featured in films and television, marking him as a significant contributor to contemporary folk music. Following another collaboration with Ben Bridwell on the 2025 EP Making Good Time, Iron & Wine partenered with Iâm With Her on the live recording Songs from the Stage. In 2026, he released his eighth solo album, Henâs Teeth, which features the track âIn Your Ocean.â
